Any good student of American history knows that the first building block in the very foundation of America and its liberties is our Declaration of Independence. This document is a mission statement if “you will.” The document itself tells why we are who we are as a people and a nation and why we became who we are, as a country. The document is a prequel for our Constitution, which we use as an owner’s manual for America – or “how to” in this case.
The opening paragraph tells its very intent, perfectly well, with no room for error. This complete document can be read by going to Archives.gov.
“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”This is something a lot of people overlook in my opinion, contained within this statement, “and secure the Blessings of Liberty.” The word “Blessings” is mostly glossed over, more often than not. If we define a Blessing, it means a gift from God. The Founding Fathers knew everything America is and would ever be is a gift from Him, our Creator.
People, I have noticed in two totally separate new stories have been attacking this relationship with America and God at the foundation of not only faith, but also bit by bit, they continue to allow the subversion of our shared morality. The first of these two attacks is Islam’s attempt to, “Fundamentally Transform” our very Holiest of books the Bible. This from Atlas Shrugs:
“Mainline Christian organizations are changing their holy scripture to avoid offending Muslims. Not only does this violate their scripture, but it also defeats the purpose of their mission–to share the Gospel. If mainline Christian organizations fear Muslims so much that they have to edit what they believe to be the Word of God, how far can they be from submission? Where are the righteous, the outraged, the proud?”
