Nanny State Bill In California - Bans Food Trucks From Schools

So it is ok to teach them how to have homosexual sex, but food trucks are the enemy?

A state assemblyman has introduced legislation that would limit where mobile food trucks can go.

Assemblyman Bill Monning (D-Carmel) introduced Assembly Bill 1678 Tuesday, which would prohibit mobile food trucks from vending within 1,500 feet of elementary and middle schools, whenever school is in session. The bill would also make health agencies notify food vendors of the restriction.

Monning cites a need for students to eat healthier, and for students to be safe.

"All students deserve access to healthful food. The mobile vending of unhealthful snacks like ice cream, chips, and sugar sweetened beverages near school campuses undermines efforts to provide students with the nutrition they need," said Monning, in a news release. "At a time when childhood obesity is at epidemic levels, we must ensure that our school environments foster student wellness."

Monning's bill, however, makes no mention of fast food restaurants.

"The bill takes no account of all the fast food restaurants nearby schools, or the convenient stores. It's like putting a piece of bubblegum to fill a dam. It's not the cure," said Davin Vculek, of the Mini Burger truck.

If the bill passes as is, most of Sacramento would be off-limits to food trucks.
