Ratings Advice From Rachel Maddow

In an interview with B&C's Andrew Morabito, Rachel Maddow offered her insight into the cable news ratings game.

"Right now, nobody is paying attention. Cable news ratings are down across the board. The less you talk about the election, the more your ratings go up."

Notwithstanding the fact that ratings almost always drop at the onset of Summer, let's look into this a bit.

I find it hard to believe nobody's paying attention to what's been hyped as the most important election of our lifetime. I can't get through a day without seeing, hearing or reading a story about the upcoming election, the faux "War on Women", "The War on Blacks", the Occupy Protests or the renewed Freedom of Reproductive Choice debate.

I'm inundated with stories that Billy makes more money than Sam, so Sam should give more to Billy, If we don't pass universal healthcare, the nation will go to hell in a hand basket, and I receive constant mail requesting money for a variety of election related causes.
