Can't Wait To Vote!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
****************
I
am usually the first -- or among the first two or three -- voter(s) to
cast ballots at my precinct polling place -- every election. Yes, I AM proud of that!
A
poll watcher once asked me why I was so determined to to be early. I
told him it was not the "early" factor so much as it was the act of
voting itself. I explained that I felt obligated to exercise my
privilege to vote because men and women had died to preserve that right, that privilege, for me.
See, for me, voting is both a right and a privilege. When it comes to voting, one is as important as the other.
I
am fired up and ready to be standing at the door of my polling place
when it is unlocked tomorrow morning. I believe tomorrow will be an
historic day. I am convinced that Americans will rise to the
occasion and throw off the oppressive Obama Regime and reclaim America's
birthright of freedom.
I have thought for four years
now that the election of Barack Obama was an aberration. It was,
absolutely, an event markedly different from the norm. We don't usually
elect Marxists to the office of President of the United States. We
did in 2008 -- and we have been paying for it, big time, ever since.
Tomorrow, freedom loving Americans will (I believe) reclaim their country.
One thing I'd like to see squared away before our next Presidential Election in 2016. We
desperately need to correct our election law to provide that all
candidates for President of the US, must present official documentation
of their US citizenship, that is to say, that they are, indeed, a
natural born citizen of the United States. That may require a Supreme
Court ruling on what exactly constitutes the status of "natural born."
So be it. It is a matter that needs to be settled -- once and for all.
My
intention at this hour (frankly, I don't see any set of circumstances
that might occur between now and 6:30 in the morning, that will change
my mind) is to cast a straight republican ticket. My concern, at this late hour, is more for the control of the US Senate than for the Office of President.
Even
if Romney wins, as I believe he will, he will need the cooperation of
the Senate to get many of his reforms passed into law. He will also
need the Senate for approval of possible Supreme Court Justices. He will also need the Senate for the repeal of Obamacare.
I
have mentioned a number of times that I read many overseas publications
and news sites. (By the way, if you really want to know what is
happening in America, I'd advise you not to rely on domestic mainstream
media sources. Go off-shore to get news about America. Sad to say, our
homeland news organizations -- with the possible exception of Fox News
Channel -- are saturated in leftist bias making it impossible to get a
balanced picture of events in America.) I bring this up because I have been struck by how much attention is being paid this Presidential Election in America by the overseas press.
Whether
they love America or hate America, America remains the standard for
freedom on this planet. You see that reflected in the foreign press.
Our lights may be dimmed somewhat, our raiment may be slightly tattered
after the past four years of our national Marxist experiment with Obama,
but our spirit is not quenched. We remain that "Shining City on a
Hill" for much of the world.
See, the old expression "You can't see the forest for the trees." applies quite nicely to Americans. We Americans tend to see the trees -- but not the forest. Across
the pond, they recognize the individual American's fervor for freedom
as an all consuming fire that alights not just a single tree in that
forest, but the entire forest! It seems to me, they understand,
even better than we Americans, that when we are pushed too far, or we
feel our freedom is at stake, we will rise, en masse, as an enormous,
furious, guardian of that freedom, a leviathan, if you will, determined
to squash any and all threats to our birthright of liberty.
Call me what you will, but I believe that is about to happen tomorrow.
America's choice is as clear as it possibly can be. We must decide between a Marxist
and a conservative advocate of capitalism, between freedom or slavery,
between a man (Obama) who instructs his adherents to vote for "revenge," or a man (Romney) who tells his followers to vote for "love of country."
Sadly,
our current President has fallen so low that he is now flagrantly
playing the so-called "race card" in the waning hours of the campaign.
This from a man the Mainstream Media in America boasted, upon his
election in 2008, would bring the races in America together. If
anything, race relations in America now approach their lowest ebb since
the 1960's with black Americans openly threatening nationwide riots if
Obama loses tomorrow. THIS IS POST RACIST???
Tomorrow
will be, as I said above, an historic day for America -- and the world.
It will be the day America is rescued from Socialism, Marxism, and
Communism. The restoration of America will begin the moment the race is called for Romney.
Back in the 1920's, a former President of the United States said: "The business of America IS business." That was President Calvin Coolidge. President Coolidge had more business acumen in his little finger than there is in the entire Obama Administration .
Business in America is more than a "little" ready to get going again. They are "leaning forward" straining at the reins, eager to spend the tons of money they have been afraid to commit during the Obama Administration. A
Romney win will open the flood gates and that money will be pumped into
the American economic system creating millions of jobs and propelling
the American economic system toward the stratosphere!
Yeah, I'm ready to cast my ballot. I want my country back and the free world wants America back!
