Talking Points - that’s the phrase that dominated the latest news coming from the Senate Intelligence Committee overseeing the inquiry of the Al Qaeda attack in Benghazi that killed a U.S. Ambassador, his aide, and two Navy Seals, on September 11th of this year. The first order of business for the committee is, was, to find out what the CIA knew, and when they knew it.
According to the national media outlets, and former CIA director David Petraeus, the CIA knew “almost immediately” that it was a terrorist attack – most likely by Al Qaeda. Yet, the U.N. Ambassador appeared on no less than five news shows, telling the American people the attack occurred following an impromptu demonstration; a demonstration that supposedly erupted in response to the now famous anti-Islamic video, produced by an American citizen.
The “Talking Points” the U.N. Ambassador spewed across the airwaves were said to be the unclassified version, approved for public dissemination. What they were was totally false, a complete fabrication aimed at misinforming the public…while the leader of the current administration was running for re-election. It is being said by Petraeus that the correct Talking Points were kept classified, but he is not saying on who’s orders, nor is he saying who was the ultimate authority that signed off on the lies told to the world by Ambassador Rice. I can guess, and I bet my guess would be correct.
It is bad enough that the administration would choose to deceive the American people about such a tragic event, an attack on sovereign U.S. soil on the anniversary of the worst attack in U.S. history, but to also dishonor the First Amendment and the patriots that lost their lives defending it, and our entire democracy, is a disgrace. The President of the Unite States went in front of the U.N., as well as several Islamic nations, and apologized for our Freedom of Speech! To add insult to injury, the administration had the videographer arrested on miniscule “probation violations.” Right, he used a pen name on the video. That is an outrageous violation, much more serious than the sex-offender parole violations that go on all over this country without arrest. I guess the President didn’t need to arrest them to further his lies, so it’s ok.
Why did they feel they had to classify the truth about the attack, anyway? Did President Bush blame the 911 attack on the World Trade Center on angry pilots? Did he have other government officials tell the world the pilots were alcoholics, and attacked because they were angry at FAA rules outlawing consuming adult beverages before flying? It would be the same kind of outright lie that Obama tried to have us all believe about Benghazi. No, Bush didn’t. Why? He had character, for one. And two, he was strong on national defense. He wasn’t afraid to blame radical Islamists for the crimes they committed. Obama is more worried about political correctness, his seeming allegiance to the Muslim Brotherhood, and winning elections than he ever was with national security.
How can we teach the children of this nation about things like integrity, honesty, and character when the President, and others in high positions in our government, don’t have any of those qualities. Why should they have to do something as uncomfortable as admit serious mistakes, if the highest among us doesn’t. This lack of morals and character has permeated our entire society, yet, it seems to be selective when applied. Look at how Petraeus and General Allen are being railroaded for personal indiscretions with women. It seemed to be fine for former President Clinton, IN THE OVAL OFFICE! Keep in mind, the President is the highest ranking official in the military chain of command. Why the double-standard? Politics, that’s why. Liberal politics, I should say. I don’t condone the Generals’ behavior, but I do feel the standard should be the same. Unfortunately, that would require Obama and his regime to uphold morals and high standards of behavior. We know that’s not going to happen.
