(CNSNews.com) – Noting the worldwide excitement surrounding Kate Middleton’s pregnancy, MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry compared the hoopla surrounding the British royal birth to Texas abortion politics, and then offered her own definition of viability:
“When does life begin? I submit the answer depends an awful lot on the feeling of the parents. A powerful feeling – but not science,” Harris-Perry said on her show Sunday. “The problem is that many of our policymakers want to base sweeping laws on those feelings.”
Harris-Perry also said that women with unwanted pregnancies do not share the same experience as the Duchess of Cambridge, who gave birth Monday to an 8 pound, 6 ounce baby boy who is now third in line to the British throne.
“When a pregnancy is wanted . . . it is easy to think of the bump as a baby,” Harris-Perry said. “But not every pregnancy is a fairy tale.”
“An unwanted pregnancy can be biologically the same as a wanted one. But the experience can be entirely different,” she added.
Planned Parenthood awarded Harris-Perry, who also wore tampon earringson air Sunday to protest the Texas abortion bill, with a Maggie Award for Media Excellence in TV News Reporting on July 12 “for her coverage of the federal and state-level political attacks on women’s health, family planning funding, and health care access.”
Maggie Award recipients “enhance the public’s understanding of reproductive rights and health care issues, including contraception, sex education, teen pregnancy, abortion, and international family planning.”

I submit:
- This woman is incredibly stupid.
- She says stupid things on a daily basis.
- It’s a good thing that her audience is so small, so she can’t subject many viewers to her stupidity.
- One of the gravest injustices in this world, is the fact that she makes more money than I do.
I want a job at MSNBC. Apparently, you don’t need to do any research, be correct, or have your train of thought contain anything that resembles logic or common sense.
I never heard of this Melissa Harris-Perry chick before last week, and now it seems like I can’t get away from her. I have to finish this fast, because the more time I spend on this, the more I think of about her that irritates me.
Let me just say this. First of all, aren’t liberals the ones that are always saying that science is the ultimate authority, and should have the final word when it comes to creation? How could a lowly parent possibly have anything to say that could challenge almighty science?
Secondly, aren’t liberals like Melissa, the same people that say parents have no right to use spanking as a method of disciplining a child.
I submit to you, Melissa, that if parents have the right to end (or as you contend: not allow the beginning of) an unborn child’s life, they certainly have the right to spank their born children when they misbehave, and, if we can’t look to science for an answer as to when life begins, maybe we should look to God.
