Virgina Cops refused service because they were carrying guns

Police officers in Manassas, Virginia are claiming that they were refused service at a Buffalo Wild Wings. The reason? Because they were armed.  The eight on duty cops went into the restaurant to get something to eat when a server spied their guns on display. The worker then informed the police officers that Buffalo Wild Wings was a gun free zone.

The officers showed their badges, however the server was insistent and refused to serve them.  One of the local citizens  Daryl LaClair, was so outraged that he wrote a letter to the restaurant chain and started a “public awareness” campaign.
WWBT-TV reports that Manager, Scott Lufton, apparently wrote back saying it was all just a big misunderstanding. “There is no reason why those officers should have been asked to leave … police officers are always welcome in my establishment and even though we do have a no gun policy, as a company that excludes off duty police officer,” The manager expressed a desire to speak personally with the 8 officers involved.
It’s interesting to note that this is not the first time that officers were faced trouble for bringing guns inside a restaurant. Officers at Denny’s experienced a similar situation earlier this year.

What is going on with people? It is absolutely ridiculous to refuse to serve police officers on or off duty when they are carrying weapons. These are the people we entrust to keep us safe, and the ONLY ones armed in a gun free zone. Well, other than the criminals, of course. Why would you want to keep them out of your establishment?  They literally protect and serve. If someone were to come in and take hostages your only hope would be that cops were around, especially since the criminal already knows that it is a “gun -free zone”. After all , the signs proudly proclaim it as such.
The hoplophobia in this country has reached a crazy peak. The knee jerk reactions and emotional manipulation by the main stream media has people running at a fever pitch. All it would take is just a tiny bit of common sense to KNOW that police officers carrying their weapons present little danger to patrons in a restaurant. I guess common sense is sadly missing these days.

And exactly WHY should a responsible, law abiding Citizen (particularly one who has jumped through all of the bureaucratic and legal hoops and paid the accompanying fees and endured the background check) NOT be afforded the same 'privilege' as the coppers? I will NOT frequent an establishment such as bww who apparently consider me a second class (at best) citizen since I choose to exercise my right to keep and bear arms.

I would not go there now ever. Even though I seldom carry into restaurant the option should still be there. I don't believe that a restaurant should have the right to take away something guaranteed in the constitution. I am boycotting Buffalo Wild wings.
