An Alternative Thanksgiving Meal Discussion

My son is currently learning about the American Revolution in school (High School). In light of this revelation, I decided to strike up a conversation regarding Benedict Arnold, a notable major player in the revolution.

Arnold was a traitor, according to my son. Nothing more nothing less!

Thomas Paine, Patrick Henry, Horatio Gates? - - Never heard of them.

Paul Revere? Of course I know who he is Dad…”the British are coming!”

And, George Washington crossed the Delaware!

Of course I’m paraphrasing, but you get the gist. What are our children being taught in school?

They’re taught that the war occurred, but know nothing of the players or the hardships that took place leading up to and during the conflict...
