Math Teacher to be fired for opposing Planned Parenthood

A Oregon  public school teacher has been suspended and recommended for dismissal for his views on planned parenthood.  Bill Diss has taught math at Benson High School for 11 years. Now he is possibly going to be fired, because of his staunch opposition to Planned Parenthood.
The problem started when Mr. Diss refused to allow Planned Parenthood representatives into the classroom for a scheduled session with students. Mr. Diss says the representatives lacked the proper identification. The representatives were allowed into the classroom over Mr. Diss’s objections, and Mr. Diss was given a reprimand. Mr. Diss is now on administrative leave, and has been recommended for termination.

Mr. Diss is accused of telling students that Planned Parenthood kills over a million babies every three years, a statistic, that is certainly true. Even in planned parenthood’s own releases it shows they are responsible for 25% of america’s abortions, and the single largest provider of abortions in the country. Mr. Diss also organized a protest at a school board meeting, protesting allowing Planned Parenthood into the schools.
The students say, that he doesn’t bring it up very often, but when he does, he brings up religion as well, a fact Mr. Diss doesn’t deny. The students say that they make fun of him for his beliefs
So what’s really going on here? I think it is as Mr. Diss suspects. He is being thrown out of the school for his beliefs. It is a high school setting for lords sake. Kids should be thinking on their own in high school. I find it very frustrating that teachers are no longer allowed to have opinions on things anymore. We are in fact letting our school systems teach students that having strong opinions on things is not OK. You should keep quiet and get along.
As for bringing up religion? Perhaps it is the wrong setting. I don’t know what Religion has to do with Math.  Then again, why the hell was Planned Parenthood interrupting a math class? The severity of the discipline raises another question for me.  Are all teachers who voice an opinon on religion fired? For example would a Muslim teacher be fired for explaining a Muslim’s view on America? How about a pro-government teacher? Would they be fired for expressing an opinion that Obama was awesome?  I don’t have the answers to this.  I am curious though.
When did we start sheltering teenagers from opposing opinions  I think this is a terrible step in the wrong direction. How on earth can they ever learn to analyze and form opinions on their own if they never hear anything opposing? We are putting them out into the world completely unprepared to challenge the status quo way of thinking.  We are expected to obey, and follow. No one leads anymore. I find this profoundly disturbing. Why is it wrong to voice an unpopular opinion? There was a time when saying that slaves should be free was unpopular.
free speech
We need to break free of this idea of sheltering teens from the truth, and from opposing opinions. Do they even have debate teams? I don’t know what the heck they would debate. Dissension is not tolerated. You much march in lockstep or be ostracized, by your peers, the community, and even your employer. Good luck America, we are not preparing kids anymore to be strong. We are preparing them for a life of blind acceptance. I despair for our future.

Regarding your statement above, "Would they be fired for expressing an opinion that Obama was awesome? I don’t have the answers to this. I am curious though."

I can tell you positively that if you are a school teacher in Los Angeles, and you think Obama is awesome, and you expressed this during school hours, then you would certainly not be punished for this behavior. You would probably receive some type of award.

My son went to University HS in Los Angeles, and when O was running for president in 2008, the teachers wore Obama buttons, t-shirts, and held Obama rallies during school hours. The students were not allowed to object to any of this in any way, or they would be ridiculed. It was absolutely sickening.

I saw this first hand since my son broke his leg and had to use a wheelchair at school, so I had to go in with him.

The schools are run by the government, which is determined to brainwash the students however they want. I didn't want my son to even go to the public school, but he wanted to try it, after schooling at home.

Regarding explaining anything Muslim, or related to Islam, obama encourages it. Obama quote: In “Audacity of Hope” he writes: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” The quote comes from page 261 of the paperback edition of “The Audacity of Hope.

Another quote from the fox news.com website: "The president told the UN that the “future must not belong” to a series of people including “corrupt” leaders and those who “bully women.”

But one line from that list stood out. “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”

Everyone should watch the movie "2016, Obama's America" by Dinesh D'Souza. Another thing to watch is the Obama Deception (which I found on YouTube): http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=obama+2016+youtube+video+full+movie&mid=6717768C731097887DAD6717768C731097887DAD&view=detail&FORM=VIRE8
