Slavery: Blacks Are Just As Responsible

I can never understand why people are still arguing about something that ended over 150 years ago. Just the other day I heard a black woman on TV say that because of slavery she is scared for life, really, something that ended 150 years ago scared her for life? The only way that can happen is in her warped mind.

As of late there are many black people who still hold a grudge because of slavery.  Well they need to dive a little bit into history and find out that their people are just as responsible for slavery. One of the first slave owners in America was a black tobacco farmer named Anthony Johnson.

In the mid 1800’s one of the biggest slave owners in South Carolina was a black plantation owner, as a matter of fact there were over 170 black slave owners in South Carolina in that time period. I don’t know about you but it seems a little hypocritical for black people just to point the finger at white people for owning slaves.

Let us not forget where these slaves came from. Tribes in Africa would raid one another and take slaves and would keep them as slaves until slave traders came along to buy them. Blacks keeping other blacks as slaves was common place in Africa for thousands of years before slave traders came along.

Let us not forget the American Indians who also owned black slaves,  as well as keeping other Indian slaves that they captured by raiding other Indian villages. People now are complaining about Christopher Columbus how cruel he was; well let me tell you, these Indians were twice as mean and vicious then Columbus and his men ever were. So save your speech for someone who doesn’t know anything about actual history.

Who ended slavery? White men that's who, they  fought a war just to end slavery and almost 700,000 white men died because of it.

I think it’s time to end the discussion on slavery, there is plenty of blame to go around and anyway, it ended over 150 years ago, so give it a rest. Maybe all these whiners should concentrate on the countries that still have slavery.

This is one man's opinion.
